Kabul, Afghanistan
Members of 3 RCR Battalion Group November Company patrol the streets of Kabul during Operation ATHENA. 
The objective of Operation ATHENA, Canada’s contribution to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), is to support the United Nations-authorized mission in Kabul, Afghanistan, for a period of 12 months starting in August 2003. The mission of ISAF is to help maintain security in Kabul and the surrounding areas so that the Afghan Transitional Authority and UN agencies can begin rebuilding the country. At this time, ISAF comprises 5,500 troops from 31 different nations.

An Iltis vehicle leaves Camp Courcelette in Bihac, Bosnia-Herzgovina in the morning fog. Personnel from the Royal Canadian Dragoons Battle Group (RCD BG) were on their way to conduct an early morning operation. There are currently 1220 Canadians enforcing the peace in Bosnia-Herzegovina as part of NATO's Stabilization Force.

As a part of their regular duties members of the First Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (1 PPCLI) Battle Group, based out of Camp Courcelette in Bihac, Bosnia-Herzegovina, conduct presence patrols near the Croatian border at an abandoned airfield. 250 reservists are currently serving with the 1 PPCLI Battle Group. There are currently 1,450 Canadians maintaining the peace in Bosnia-Herzegovina as part of NATO's 12,000 strong Stabilization Force (SFOR).

CFB Gagetown Training Area
This vehicle is participating in Army Reserve Concentration, also known as ARCON, Atlantic Canada’s largest reserve training exercise.  It was held at CFB Gagetown, New Brunswick, from 23 to 30 August, 2002.  Throughout the week, more than 1400 Army Reserve soldiers from across Atlantic Canada took part in realistic collective training scenarios that reflected today’s current global reality.  The aim of the year’s exercise was to review and refine offensive operations tactics and procedures.

Sergeant Laurent Morin (left), Private Mathieu Champagne (driving) and Private Stephane Ayotte (rear) from B Company, 3rd Battalion Royal 22nd Regiment Battalion Group (3 R22eR Bn Gp), drive their Iltis to the assembly point prior to departing for patrolling in the city of Kabul, Afghanistan, during Operation Halle.
The Canadian Battalion Group (BG) is increasing its presence in its Zone of Operations (ZO) to support local authorities countering criminal activities. The BG intends to help the Kabul City Police in disrupting patterns of illegal activities that may exist in its ZO and thus increase the general state of security and safety
